Kedgeree

Kedgeree (Page 288) is a mix of rice, eggs and poached fish. a nice tasting dish, but would consider it would be better served as lunch as opposed to a dinner, the reason being that when you have a main dinner course it has to be filling and memorable, this dish lacks this but would satisfy as a lunch.

Rating out of 10 would be a 7.

Tomatoe Soup

Today I tried the Tomatoe Soup from the recipe on page 133. It reminded me a bit of when you try something you taste for the very first time, and it far exceeds what you was expecting.

The taste of this soup is slightly sharper than what you would buy in a tin, good thing about making your own soup is that you can make a lot and put it in the fridge and microwave small servings, if you were to buy the same amount of soup in tins it would probably cost you around £8-£9.

Heatlthy Full Monty

This Healthy option to a fry up is done by grilling rather than frying, and to be honest tasted better than a fry up, the taste in the food comes out better and you are not left with that sickly feeling of grease. Im not saying this is the quickest way to get a fry up (grill up) it does take some time to do, so if you have been on the pop the night before and your body craves salt then a fry up is a lot quicker.

But i would have to say if you want to enjoy the food this is the best way to do it.

Chicken Fajitas

Well tonight (1st November) we are being visited by our son john and his two kids, he has bought a shed load of fireworks, and we are supplying the food and drink, so tonight we are doing two meals the first is an extract from Jamies Ministry of Food
The first dish we had during the night was the Chicken Fajitas, these went down well, they were delicious, the salsa was to die for and had the wow factor, yet it was so simple to do.

It was this dish that made me feel that cooking is an enjoyment, even now my husband, who hates cooking has shown an interest and reads this book, in addition my son and his wife are now really interested in the book and I will be buying a copy for them for christmas.

rating out of 10 I would give 9.

A Cracking Burger

The second meal of the night was the Cracking Burger

I have read some reviews from Jamies website and apparently its not called cracking for no reason, anyway i have just sampled some of the meat and it is abfab, will post back later to let you know how the food and night goes on.

Anyway the brood have now left and the Burger was quite nice a bit reminisent of a nutty burger.

I made a slight amendment to the original recipe by adding grated onion and adding to the mix, i also made one of Jamies tomatoe soups, my grandson had 3 bowls of this soup and his mother tells me that he does not like soup.

My daughter in law tried to borrow my Jamie Oliver book, "No chance i said"
